| High bidder will name a character in Patti Callahan Henry's next novel. |
The Spring Break Bash on Saturday, April 24, at the transformed indoor tennis center promises to whisk you back to your favorite beach with memories and music from the 1950s and 60s. Beginning at 5:30 pm, the party includes both a silent and a live auction.
The generosity of our donors is simply inspiring! Readers of the March Smoke Signals are already aware that the live auction includes fabulous vacations, great home improvements and a fantasy football package. Now we have confirmation that the auction will include a gold and diamond bracelet featuring 21 princess diamonds and a pair of Cartier sunglasses, one of the first made when Cartier introduced its Vendome collection to the U.S. Loren and Barbara Rozeboom will host a gourmet dinner for eight lucky diners and just in …seven days of adventure and fellowship on a cruise to the Western Caribbean.
There is also an opportunity for twenty guys or gals, who are willing to offer $200 for the privilege, to become members of the LifeSaver Society and have the honor of wearing a very special cap. Watch for this to really light up the Special Event!
Something for everyone at the Silent Auction The silent auction will have 10 tables offering more than 150 irresistible items. Visit one or all of the tables, but remember to keep checking back and Be young, be foolish, but be happy! You ain’t nothin’ but a hound dog is the place for pet owners looking for obedience training while Will you still love me tomorrow? offers opportunities to wine and dine. Brunch for two at the Ritz Carlton, anyone? Where the boys are is smoking cigars in front of a 19” flat screen TV and She’ll have fun, fun, fun with a full day of beauty at a Buckhead salon. Other tables will offer vacations, items for your home and garden, and something to challenge your mind and spirit. But if you are looking for the art work of over 60 Big Canoe artists, visit Are you warm, are you real, Mona Lisa? Art work will be displayed in the tennis center and in the exercise room. Finally, feeling the need to relax? Try Sittin’ on the dock of the bay, wastin’ time for arts and leisure offerings. The Spring Break Bash is the party you and your friends will remember for a long time, but by placing that extra bid you will also be helping those in need in Pickens and Dawson counties.

| Austin McGonigle, founder of the Georgia Speakers Bureau, will be Master of Ceremonies for Spring Break Bash. |
The date has been set, the theme announced, and the excitement is building! Spring Break Bash on April 24 is expected to be one of the major fundraising components of the 2010 Tour of Homes.
In addition to dinner and entertainment, we are excited to have Austin McGonigle, president of Success Cycle, Inc., as Master of Ceremonies for this year's special event. Author, sales executive and former business radio talk show host, Austin’s quick wit and knack for storytelling promise a fun-filled evening.
Members of the Spring Break Bash auction committee, 16 in number, have been busy collecting fantastic items for this year’s event. The night will certainly be a big “splash.” To date, the committee has received more than 170 commitments for silent auction items, 13 live auction items, and several donations for our new Treasure Chest. Here is a preview of the fantastic live auction items waiting for your bid on April 24!
There will be a table just for pets and a Wine and Dine section overflowing with wonderful items. Again this year, the artists of Big Canoe have excelled and produced an amazing assortment of art that will “rock your boat.” Many smaller items, from footballs to foot cream, are sure to delight every Spring Breaker.
Several items will be auctioned live from the floor by Robin Huff, who returns this year as our professional auctioneer. Included are visits to popular vacation spots, from Park City, Utah to Siesta Key, Florida; a fantasy football package including V.I.P. access to the Falcons’ training camp, and tempting private dining opportunities.
A custom-created cedar arbor and always indispensable under-decking for your home are back this year by popular demand. In keeping with this year’s beach theme, a made-to-order saltwater aquarium will be offered for our tropical fish lovers. And, yes - word has it that Cartier will make another appearance!
But did someone mention a Treasure Chest? Earlier this year the auction committee put out a call to members of the Chapel Women’s Guild for interesting and sentimental jewelry that was no longer worn, but still beautiful.

Ladies responded with donations from around the world and gathered through generations. In the chest, you may expect malachite and hand-painted lacquered pieces from Russia; a damascene ware set from Japan; antique opals; topaz necklace and earrings; diamond and ruby ring; several cameos, and many more beautiful baubles. Many of the pieces have family stories to accompany them.
All will be worth a look! Pieces will be priced separately, or in matching sets.
In addition, Pat Williams has been conducting a treasure hunt for gold! Rings, chains, single earrings (who hasn’t lost an earring and kept the other one, just in case?) or any items made of gold will be given to Scott Shiffman of Shiffman Jewelers to turn into Big Canoe-themed charms for auction.
The committee promises an auction to delight the eye and be a simply inspiring addition to the fun generated at the Spring Break Bash.
